Now this is the fact that we all are Procrastinators some are at beginner level and some are seasoned Procrastinators.
Procrastination is the state of mind which help us to postpone our objectives and goals till tomorrow, till day after or if possible till infinity. In between what we will lose we damn care about that.
I was a seasoned Procrastinator till some time back, I use to never believe in Walking in morning, because for me, sleep at that time is more important than walk. I use to give very low priority to walk and high priority to sleep. I never realized that anything ever can happen to me because my weight is almost near to weight height ratio. But one fine day I started having pain in my knees, since I was a seasoned procrastinator at that time, I told myself that it might be that I am doing office work and moving around which might have resulted in that, I was trying to be self deceptive. But when it became unbearable, then only I decided to go to doctor who advised me to go for walk on daily basis and drink more water or else your knees pain will become severe and can result in arthritis.
I then devised a strategy which I now want to share with you.
1. Join some group: I tried to find the friends in my area who go for regular walk in morning and requested them to just give me call in morning whenever they are starting for walk. I have to get up for the morning walk, as I don’t want to be Lazy duck in their eyes. This helped me a lot and I now owe my wellbeing to those friends and also thank them for helping me in overcoming procrastination.
2. Plan incrementally – I suggest that you can overcome the Procrastination of any form by using this. Take a baby step. I have one of my friend who use to procrastinate the reading of books, I advised her “For you just pick the Book from the book rack and open the first page will be the baby step”. She started getting the results.
People get overwhelmed by the tasks and then they start procrastinating, for them this is the best way to overcome that. Start working on the smallest task and the one with high priority first, you can see the result.
Some people tend to be perfectionist and so start procrastinating, for them also, they can start perfecting the smallest and high priority job first, and then move on, and they can also see the result.
3. Pat your back – Whenever you achieve the smallest success in overcoming the Procrastination by taking the baby step or by planning incrementally. Just enjoy the day, have a beer, go for long drive. You have achieved the meaningful success, it’s not an ordinary success.
4. Place a poster at your workplace and at home stating “DO IT NOW”. By looking at the poster you will constantly get reminded and you will see life will become very easy after that.
