I bet after reading this headline you think I’m immediately going to say content right!
We all know that without content you wouldn’t have a blog so of course it’s important. That’s the key word here though, important.
Surely after you’ve been blogging for as long as you have you know that content alone will not make your blog successful.
You do know that by now right!
We All Define Success Differently
Let me go ahead and clear this up before moving on.
We all have our own definitions of what a successful blog is.
I’ve shared this in the past but it’s worth repeating.
What I view as a successful blog might not be the same as how you view it and that’s perfectly okay. We all have our own goals to reach with our blogs and yours may or may not be the same as mine.
That’s why reading a post about how to have success with your blog may be misleading and that’s only because the author of that post may be heading in a completely different direction than you.
That doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong but one thing I think we can all agree on when it comes to blogging is what the #1 ingredient is. If you blog, it’s important.
So you eagerly anticipating what that is?
That’s right…without people no one will read it, no one will take whatever action steps you want them to take and it will eventually be one more very lonely blog.
It’s Not Just Anyone Though
So we now know that without people we have nothing.
That is, if you’re here to build a business because if you’re just blogging for fun you might not care if anyone ever reads your posts.
So this post really isn’t for the hobby bloggers unless you do want people reading your content and taking the necessary steps to do whatever it is you want them to do once they land on your blog.
Without people, we’re doomed. Well that’s no fun.
But wait, it’s not really just anyone either. So we know we have to have eyeballs on our content but we need the right eyeballs reading our content.
It’s the same thing as if you were a writer and you’re publishing a book. It might be the best topic out there but if the only people who are seeing it aren’t the people interested in that topic then no one is going to buy it.
We have to cater to the “right” people if we want to have a successful blog.
It’s All About People
How do some bloggers do so well getting people to their blogs, getting them to comment, getting them to opt into their lists and getting them to become customers of ours while others don’t.
That’s a very interesting question now isn’t it!
We are all unique in our own ways, some of us are from different cultures and of course we’re not all in the same niche. It’s hard for me to say exactly what might work for all of us so let me share what does and has worked for me.
I came from a stuffy background so writing didn’t come easily for me although you’re probably laughing at that very statement if you’ve been visiting me for awhile.
That just goes to show you that if I can adapt, so can you.
You have to put yourself in your readers shoes.
Since you are blogging and generating content then your goal should be to make it relate to your readers.
I’ve giving you advice of what I’ve done that’s helped me get to where I am. Are you starting to see me as someone you might be able to connect with?
Can you relate or are you interested in what I’m sharing with you? Do you think I’m telling the truth or pulling your leg?
Do you get the feeling that I’m talking just to you?
Can you see how this all works?
Be True To Yourself
Everywhere I turn we are being told that we have to stand out from the rest.
We have to write the best posts that are “epic” or “killer”. We have to write posts that could possibly go “viral” but I think that’s putting way too much pressure on ourselves.
I don’t write epic, killer or viral posts and it’s worked just fine so far.
I’m writing for you. I want to help you. I want to explain what I know in the simplest way possible so that you can take what I’m sharing, implement it and start getting results.
That is what I want for you, don’t you want that for your own readers?
I honestly believe that we all need to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves. Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers because you aren’t them.
I’ve been able to do well because I stayed true to who I am as a person and people can see that. Once they stop by and start reading what I share and I’m teaching them what I’ve learned that obviously is working then they want to keep coming back for more.
Do you think that this is a hard thing to achieve for yourself?
Remember, this is ALL about the people because without them our blogs will go nowhere.
Connecting With Your Readers
The formula for this whole process starts with writing content that your audience is eager to read and then start making those necessary connections.
Remember, it’s all about the people.
Start making those connections, reach out to them, get them talking, praise them, help them, do whatever you need to do to keep them wanting to come back for more and you will definitely create some very loyal readers that will love and trust you.
This is exactly how this works so without sounding like a broken record, remember, it’s about the people.
My question to you is, do you view your blog as successful? Do you have that #1 ingredient?
Love To Hear From You
I would love your opinion about what I shared. Do you agree with me or not. I mean as I said earlier, we are all here for different reasons but I would love to know whether you think the people are the most important to you are not.
